Last December, a warm welcome was received when Honda released the very first sketches of HONDA CIVIC CONCEPT 2012. The welcome was anticipated from those who were expecting a huge change in the compact sedan.
Unfortunately, tables turned at the grand debut of the car at DETROIT AUTO SHOW. Honda press conference ended in utter dissapointment and confusion when journalists claimed it as a Concept car with no big fantasy in terms of design compared to its current version. Mostly claim it that this is due to the fact that Honda is taking Toyota Corolla as the only real competition for the civic.
Analyst Joe Phillippi at AutoTrends consulting pointed out on an interview regarding Honda's so called no big differences in design as:
"THEIR STYLING HAS GOTTEN TOTALLY OFF-TRACK!!"
In response to this, Honda's National Marketing Director , Steven Center spoke that designs were built for the market :
"THE COMPANY HAS BEEN PERFORMING WELL THROUGH RECESSIONS. WE RUN THIS PLACE LIKE A BUSINESS AND NOT A RUNAWAY TRAIN"
Even then the debut at Detroit Auto Show has started to make Honda think that they need to add some DE-JAVOO to the concept model design before it hits the market to its consumer. Here are some pictures below of the Detroit Debut.
